CLASSES

Language classes are offered on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. with one 15 minutes break. Classes will begin on Sept. 11th, 2010 and end on June 4th, 2011 (detailed class schedules are written in semester's Calendar) There are three kinds of classes offered in academic year of 10-11: Chinese I, Chinese II, and CSL I (Chinese as Secondary Language). Afternoon class is possible depending upon number of classes and availability of class rooms and teachers.

Chinese I -- Age 6 and up. Class is mainly for Mandarin speaking family students, whose Chinese listening (L) skill has been well developed, but with limited or no speaking (S), reading (R) and writing (W) skills (Detailed Description).

Chinese II -- Entry exam needed with no age requirement. This class is designed for students who have previously learned Chinese, due to the different teaching materials, an entry exam may be needed to ensure the students are capable to skip Chinese I (Detailed Description).

Documents

CSL I -- Age 6 and up. Class is specially designed for students whose native language is not Chinese or not in Mandarin Chinese. CSL I is targeting the younger students, with the option of parents taking the class with the students (Detailed Description)

Cultural Classes TBD

Cultural Classes are available if interests are adequate. Cultural classes are offered after language classes starting at 11:40a.m.

Traditional Chinese Dance – Open to all ages. Class will cover basic movement, peacock dance, and variations of Chinese minority dances.

Basic Drawing – Open to all ages. Class will cover basic drawing, cartoon drawing, intro to Chinese painting, and intro to calligraphy.
