Chinese as a Second Language (CSL) I

COURSE  DESCRIPTION:    

 

CSL I class is designated for students age 6 and up who are from non-Mandarin speaking families.   Student-centered, differentiated instruction class-teaching format addresses various learning styles to help students develop listening (L), speaking (S), reading (R) and writing (W)  skills, with the emphasis on the development of L&S skills at the beginning.  Class contents are featured with daily life language, such as greetings, introduction, family, home, school, class, numbers, colors and foods, etc; as well as Chinese culture and traditions.  The goal is to help students get familiar with Chinese language and culture, maintain high interest to the language and build up a firm base for the next stage development of Chinese communication skills.
